Bronze Duke of Edinburgh

20th May 25

On the weekend of 18th–19th May, our Year 9 pupils took their first exciting steps into the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award with their Bronze practice expedition. Over two days, they hiked through the beautiful Surrey Hills, finishing their journey at the scenic Newlands Corner.

This was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to develop key expedition skills, including teamwork, communication, navigation and the essentials of setting up and taking down a camp. For many, it was their first experience of carrying everything they needed and working closely with their peers in the great outdoors. We were fortunate to enjoy warm, dry weather throughout the weekend, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. Spirits were high, and it was wonderful to see pupils embracing the challenge with enthusiasm and determination.

A huge well done to everyone involved—we are proud of how you represented the school and supported one another. We look forward to seeing you build on this experience during your assessed expedition later this year!
