Year 10 Inspired at GCSE Science Live

11th February 25

On Monday 10th February, our Year 10 pupils had the exciting opportunity to attend GCSE Science Live at the Brighton Dome, an event designed to enrich their understanding of science beyond the classroom.

The day featured a series of inspiring lectures from some of the UK’s leading scientists, each sharing their groundbreaking research and insights into the natural world and the future of technology. Pupils explored the wonders of pregnancy and birth with Professor Robert Winston, grappled with the possibility of time travel alongside Professor Jim Al-Khalili and discovered the astonishing applications of smart materials with Dr Eleonora D’Elia. They were also captivated by Dr Dame Maggie Aderin-Pocock’s talk on astrophysics and space travel and left intrigued by Professor Dave Cliff’s vision for the future of computing.

In addition to the engaging lectures, pupils received valuable guidance on how to approach their GCSE exams, gaining expert advice on revision techniques and exam strategies.

This was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to deepen their scientific curiosity and see how classroom learning connects to real-world discoveries and innovations. The event left everyone feeling inspired and motivated as they continue their studies in preparation for their GCSEs.
