The Box Clever Theatre Company Performs ‘Macbeth’

On Thursday 8th January, the Box Clever Theatre company visited Dunottar to perform ‘Macbeth’ to Year 11 in the school’s purpose-built Castle Theatre.
The lively, action-packed adaptation with modern music helped the pupils to consolidate their knowledge of the characters, plot and themes.
The performance was followed by a workshop in which pupils discussed the theme of kingship and volunteers did some acting.
Head of English, Kerry Lewis, said: “All the pupils I spoke to after the performance loved it! The Box Clever company pitched the performance perfectly to the pupils, performing in modern English but with key quotations from the original text to help the pupils learn them.
“The performance was also interactive, with some Year 11 pupils taking part,” she added. “The year group was engaged from beginning to end. We’ll definitely be welcoming the Box Clever Theatre Company back next year!”
