Dunottar’s First Open Mic Night

The Spring Term saw the Music Department holding the very first Open Mic Night, and boy, what performances we were treated to! At Dunottar, we are always encouraging pupils to be present and involved and the Open Mic Night was a wonderful way to hear from some of our singers who enjoy performing in a more informal setting. Some of our wonderful singing students took to the stage to share their talents with an incredibly receptive audience; there was even a special performance by some of the staff in the music department. We were treated to the music of Amy Winehouse, John Mayer, Adele, Billie Eilish and The Lumineers to name but a few. Thrown into the mix were some musical theatre numbers and even a song from The Lion King. A special shout out goes to Shaz who accompanied our singers so beautifully on the keys; to Jordan for playing the cajon, giving the performances an extra little bit of sparkle; and to Megan Dann, our Head of Singing, for organising such a successful event! We are already planning to host more Open Mic Nights next year and we can’t wait to hear more of our pupils performing and sharing their amazing voices with us.
