Dunottar School caring for the community

15th September 20

During the difficult phase of lock-down, our PTA galvanised the support of the school community through a series of engaging projects to thank Reigate and Redhill’s army of key workers, whilst also providing some much needed social support for the elderly in the community.

Goody bags filled with essential supplies including honey, fruit, vegetables, and biscuits were donated by the extended school community and given to key workers in the local area, at a critical period when many were too busy or unable to get to the shops.

Pupils got creative designing and decorating over 180 mugs for:

  • East Surrey hospital catering staff
  • Ambulance teams
  • 10 Care homes in Reigate and Redhill*

These were handed out in goody bags, also filled with tasty treats.

Our year 8 pupils also put pen to paper, writing to residents of local care homes, providing much needed support and social engagement during what was an isolating period for many.

Mark Tottman – Headmaster Dunottar School
