Team building a strong foundation for friendship

24th September 19

Year seven and year nine pupils from Dunottar School, in Reigate, kick-started this academic year with two adventure-based team-building trips, designed to ‘break-the-ice’ and help forge strong friendships amongst new pupils.

The school’s new year seven pupils headed off to Bentley Copse for two days of adrenaline fuelled adventure that included rifle shooting, quad biking and crate climbing.  The highlight for many being the late-night visit from Mr Badger; who knew badgers had such an appetite for Haribo sweets!

Meanwhile Dunottar year nine pupils headed to Mercers Lake in Merstham, donning wet-suits for a full day of water sports including raft building, stand-up paddle boarding and canoeing.

“On Thursday 5th September Year 7 set off for their team building residential trip. The purpose of the trip was for students to form new friendships and build relationships with their form tutors, myself as their head of year and other staff who attended the trip, and this certainly happened.

Over the course of the two days students got to experience a range of fun and engaging activities and it was great to see some of the key warrior learner attributes; collaboration, curiosity and independence in every student.  This was the perfect way to set the foundation for a journey of engaging learning at Dunottar.”

Mr Matt Everett – Head of Year 7.
