Welcome to the Year 6 admissions process. If you have chosen not to take the pathway for the Year 5 early offer process, you are very welcome to start the process in Year 6.
The information below outlines our admissions approach at Dunottar School.
.
Experience and discover why Dunottar the right fit for your child by joining us at one of our Working Open Mornings, where you will have the chance to talk to pupils and teachers about what life at Dunottar is really like. Families are warmly invited to attend any of our Working Open Mornings which run throughout the year. During your visit you will meet our Headmaster, Mark Tottman, be guided around our beautiful grounds and facilities by our Year 8 pupils and see the school in action. We encourage you to bring your child with you to the Open Morning anytime from Year 4 to early Year 6.
When you are ready to take the next step, register your child with us by:
You may register your child at any time prior to the registration deadline but encourage you to register early May of Year 6, so that your child can attend our Taster Morning at the end of the month.
Once your child is registered with us they will be invited to attend our Taster Morning where pupils take part in fun activity sessions. This event allows pupils to get a better feel for life at Dunottar, to meet some of our teachers, and get to know other children who are looking to join Dunottar School.
We understand that Assessment Days can seem daunting to children when considering their secondary school choices. We want to reassure you that our assessments are designed for pupils to learn more about life at Dunottar, as well as enable us to begin to get to know your child and to help us assess their ability to fit into the Dunottar community. We carry out 2 types of assessment.
Candidates must be able to attend the Warrior Learner and Academic Assessment Day in person. As part of the admissions process, we will also contact your child’s current school to request a confidential reference.
