Charity & Community Outreach at Dunottar

At Dunottar, we take great pride in championing the spirit of generosity, compassion, and community engagement. Our commitment to charitable work reflects our belief that education extends far beyond the classroom — it’s about nurturing kind, responsible young people who strive to make a positive difference in the world around them.

We are actively involved in supporting a wide range of local charities and community initiatives across Reigate and Redhill. Pupils, staff, and families come together throughout the year to raise awareness, funds, and vital support for causes that matter. From fundraising events and donation drives to hands-on volunteering, the Dunottar community works collectively to bring about meaningful change.

Every autumn term, our Sixth Form leads the way by organising and encouraging whole-school participation in RAG Week, choosing a different charity each year to support through a variety of creative and engaging activities.

In addition, we proudly maintain a Loveworks food bank collection box in our school reception, where pupils regularly contribute items, alongside generous donations during our annual Harvest Collection.

Our Pastoral Team takes part in the Samaritans’ Dawn Walk each year, raising awareness and vital funds for this important cause, while many of our older pupils volunteer with Stripey Stork as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award programmes.

Charitable giving is also woven into our weekly House activities, which often include fun and imaginative fundraising challenges. From building “nappy towers” for Stripey Stork — with house points for the tallest creation — to the ever-popular Copper Trail Challenge, where pupils line the netball courts with coins to support Home-Start East Surrey, our community spirit shines through in every event.

At Dunottar, we believe that small acts of kindness can create big change.

Charity News

In July 2025 we held our first ever Dunottar Does Good Day where we came off timetable for the day and each year group spent the day giving back to our local community. See our lovely map below which details where our pupils spent their day:

“Dunottar pupils, staff and parents have helped many charities throughout the year. I am delighted not only with the amount we have raised, but also with the variety of creative ways in which the pupils and charity committee have engaged the community in supporting good causes.”

Headmaster, Mark Tottman
