While the Sixth Form years mark the end of our students’ school life, it also marks the beginning of the exciting next chapter in their lives. Making plans for the future fills the Sixth Form experience with important decisions and choices.
As pupils pass through the school, we aim to provide the support, guidance and information they need to make well-informed choices at every stage. A structured programme of lessons is delivered through dedicated careers events and PSHE lessons. We introduce students to a variety of techniques that help them to develop self-awareness and sound decision making skills.
We want students to be able to set goals and make choices that suit them as an individual. By Sixth Form, those goals and choices are naturally focused on future careers and the next stage of their education. From selecting A level subjects, to researching higher education courses, giving practical advice about application procedures, developing interview skills through mock interviews and discussing career paths, the support is tailored to meet our Sixth Form students’ individual needs.
The majority of Dunottar Sixth Formers go on to university but our aim is to help each student to choose the course or career that is best for them.
