Careers and Higher Education Advice

On entry into Year 12, pupils are assigned a tutor, who supports them throughout the UCAS process. All Sixth Form pupils are encouraged to gain work experience, as this supports UCAS personal statements and job applications.

Pupils are encouraged to participate in Morrisby Profiling, a series of aspirations and aptitude tests, to help them investigate options at 16+ and 18+, and also have access to Centigrade, an online questionnaire that helps young people make the right decision about higher education. Pupils are invited to book a session with our careers advisor, to help pupils consider options available to them and discuss various pathways.

Alongside their A-Level subject choices, we recommend sampling at least one free Massive Online Open course (MOOC). These courses either provide a deeper understanding of the careers that students wish to pursue or showcase their interests as individuals. Whichever course they elect to study, they will stand out from the crowd.

Centigrade

Centigrade is a 30 minute, online questionnaire that helps young people make the right decision about higher education. It accesses the full UCAS database for the UK to give instant feedback on which courses would suit them best and the institutions at which they are offered.

Studies have shown that sixth formers who do the most research into Higher Education are the most likely to complete Higher Education. But with thousands of courses on offer in the UK, guiding young people onto the right course can be complex. Centigrade works out which courses best suit their interests, abilities and qualifications.
