We are committed to making the opportunities offered at Dunottar available and accessible to children who show potential in a variety of areas. With that in mind we award scholarships in recognition of potential and ability and have a means-tested Assisted Place scheme which provides reduced fees for eligible candidates. Scholarships are available to new and current pupils in Years 7 and 12. A limited number of scholarships are available for pupils joining Dunottar in Year 9.
Year 7 scholarships will be awarded to those candidates who reach the highest standard in the entrance assessments.
Students who wish to apply for Year 12 Academic Scholarships are required to take three papers: a general scholarship paper and two from a choice of subjects. These papers are open to internal and external candidates.
Art Scholarships and Design & Technology Scholarships
Year 7 and Year 12 Art & Design Scholarships are offered to new and current pupils, who show exceptional talent and promise in either Art, or Design Technology, or both.
Year 7 and Year 12 Music Scholarships are offered to new and current pupils who show exceptional talent and promise in Music.
Performing Arts Scholarships
Year 7 and Year 12 Performing Arts Scholarships are offered to new and current pupils who show exceptional talent and promise at least two disciplines within this subject (drama, dance, musical theatre).
Year 7 and Year 12 Sports Scholarships are offered to pupils who show exceptional talent and promise in any sport.
For Year 7 and Year 9 Scholarships the Senior Leadership Team will be looking for pupils who have the ability to have a positive impact on their peer group and other students, who demonstrate that they share Dunottar values and who have the most potential to contribute to school life. These judgments will be made based on the experience of meeting pupils at interview and from school reports.
For Year 12 Scholarships, the Senior Leadership Team will take into consideration: the alignment the student shows to the Dunottar values, the ability to have a positive impact on their peer group and that of other students throughout the school, leadership ability and their overall contribution to school life.
