13th February 25
On a bright and energetic morning, Dunottar’s Sixth Form Sports Leaders hosted an exciting indoor athletics event for enthusiastic Year 1 and Year 2 pupils. Designed to promote teamwork, confidence and physical activity, the event was a fantastic opportunity for younger pupils from nine local primary schools to develop their coordination, agility and sporting skills under the expert guidance of our Sixth Form leaders.
The morning kicked off with an engaging warm-up session, led by the Sixth Form Sports Leaders, ensuring everyone was ready for the action-packed activities ahead. The Year 1 and Year 2 pupils then took on a variety of fun yet challenging events, including relay races, obstacle courses, indoor javelin and standing long jump. Each activity was designed to build confidence, refine running techniques and develop essential jumping and throwing skills.
Throughout the event, the Sixth Form leaders took on their roles with enthusiasm, acting as coaches, motivators and mentors. Their leadership created a positive and supportive atmosphere, helping every child feel encouraged, engaged and excited about the world of sport.
The event concluded with a celebratory cheer, recognising the effort, determination and achievements of all participants. With big smiles and a newfound enthusiasm for athletics, our Year 1 and Year 2 pupils left the event feeling inspired – thanks to the dedication and leadership of our exceptional Sixth Form Sports Leaders.
Well done to everyone involved in making this event such a resounding success!
