Bonding Day: An Unforgettable Day of Adventure, Friendship and Fun!

9th September 24

At Dunottar, we believe in the power of adventure, teamwork and forging lasting friendships. That’s why this year’s off-site Bonding Day was an exciting whirlwind of activities for all year groups, taking learning beyond the classroom and into the great outdoors (and some indoor fun, too!) Each year group embarked on a unique experience, ensuring every student had a day to remember!

Year 7 – Making Waves at Lagoon Watersports
Our Year 7 students kicked off their Bonding Day at Lagoon Watersports, diving headfirst into a thrilling day of water-based fun! They challenged themselves on the waves, learning new skills and boosting their confidence. Despite the rain there were smiles all around. It was a fantastic way for our new Year 7s to bond as they embark on their secondary school journey.

Year 8 – Adventures Await at Blackland Farm
Year 8 students enjoyed an extraordinary outdoor experience at Blackland Farm Outdoor Centre, nestled in the heart of the Ashdown Forest. From zip-lining through the trees to tackling team-building challenges, they spent the day embracing the spirit of adventure. The scenic surroundings made it the perfect environment for building resilience and strengthening friendships, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Year 9 – Exploring New Heights at Walton Firs
For Year 9, Walton Firs Activity Centre was the ultimate destination for adventure and discovery. Students took part in an exciting array of activities, from rock climbing to archery. The day was all about teamwork, pushing limits and learning through exploration — an ideal combination to develop their problem-solving skills and foster stronger peer relationships.

Year 10 – High-Energy Fun at Flip Out
Year 10 students headed to Flip Out, the ultimate indoor adventure park, where excitement knows no bounds! With attractions like mini golf, interactive football, Laser Quest and even a synthetic ice rink, there was something for everyone. It was a day of pure fun and friendly competition, with students bonding over their shared love for thrills and challenges.

Year 11 – Adrenaline-Packed Adventures at Wormdale Farm
Our Year 11s got their adrenaline fix at Outdoor Pursuits Wormdale Farm, taking on an action-packed line-up of activities designed to challenge both body and mind. This was the perfect environment for our Year 11 students to push themselves, strengthen their team spirit and create lasting memories as they prepare for their GCSEs.

Year 12 & 13 – Serenity and Survival Skills at Roar Outdoor
Our sixth formers enjoyed a more tranquil yet equally adventurous day at Roar Outdoor. Stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking on the River Wey, archery and learning bushcraft skills made for a perfect balance of relaxation and survival challenges. It was a great opportunity for them to unwind, reflect and bond as an Upper Sixth.

We are proud of our students for embracing these adventures and being true Warrior Learners.
