Pupils Perform ‘As You Like It’ in the Shakespeare Schools Festival

On Thursday 23rd November, the cast of ‘As you Like it’ took part in the Shakespeare Schools Festival at the Leatherhead Theatre. Their professionalism on and off stage for their tech and dress run was noted by the creative director and we were extremely proud of how they represented Dunottar.

Our worlds began in the dark, sinister, cold world of the court, with themes of fighting and banishment. The wrestling scene was a standout moment with the whole cast creating an amazing atmosphere and the fight was expertly delivered! We then continued the journey to a new world of the forest, a chilled-out place of colour, freedom music and song. As one of Shakespeare’s romantic comedies – love is in the air and love letters in the trees were brought to life beautifully by the cast with living trees and sprites. Led by our bold and animated lead cast- a story of many versions of love, mistaken identity and in true Shakespeare style, a denouement of four weddings. In addition, a groovy disco curtain call!

A huge shout out to Mr Rivas who gave his time and beautifully creative designs, making costumes for the whole cast. We were all so lucky and extremely grateful.

Our superb, expressive and delightful cast worked so hard during rehearsals and once again pulled it off and more with a fantastic performance to be celebrated.
