Dunottar’s Director of Sport, Simon Manning, is working closely with the Surrey Schools Athletics Association (SSAA) in his role as Race Organiser to launch the very first ‘virtual’ Secondary Schools’ Cross-Country Championships, due to take place over one week, from Sunday 7th to Monday 15th February 2021.
In the current lockdown situation, and with the absence of school and district cross-country fixtures, this inclusive event will aim to encourage all secondary school-aged pupils in Surrey to take on the challenge and represent their borough.
“Whether completely new to running or a regular at these types of fixtures, this event is open to ALL pupils, for free. It’s our ambition to set an example of a safe mass participation run, encouraging pupils to maintain physical activity levels and involvement during lockdown. We hope to see some record numbers taking part.”

Pupils will have one week to complete the required distance for their year group. They can complete the distance as often as they choose, but will only be able to upload one official ‘entry’ using a choice of GPS activity trackers.
