Pupils raise over £400 for Whizz-Kidz

The enterprising youngsters raised £433 for Whizz-Kidz after former head girl Kate Clifford returned to the school to talk in a special assembly about her volunteering work for the charity.

Inspired by Kate’s assembly, pupils held an own-clothes day and ran various activities, including guessing the sweets in a jar.

Sevenoaks PFC, a powerchair football club for anyone with a physical disability, also lent sports wheelchairs (powerchairs) to the school. Pupils used these powerchairs to take part in a special lunchtime penalty shootout and an obstacle course.

Mathematics teacher and head of fundraising, LucyAnne Chessell, said: “We wanted to raise awareness of how difficult it is to use the sports wheelchair—but also the opportunities that this type of wheelchair gives disabled users.”
