Dunottar School has broken new ground by providing a pupil the opportunity to sit AS Portuguese this summer.
Chelsea said: “I’m half Brazilian, so it made sense to study Portuguese at A’ level. I’d like to thank Dunottar for providing classes to enable me to do this. I have a fantastic teacher called Miss Welsh, who has given me her support and prepared me for the exam.”
Portuguese, Spanish and French teacher Abi Welsh commented: “It has been a delight to teach Chelsea this year, and I am so pleased to have helped her to study a subject so close to her heart. Being half-Brazilian, she has some natural ability, but the AS syllabus requires high levels of comprehension and written language, so her achievements should not be underestimated.”
Over the years, individual students at Dunottar have sat GCSEs in non-curricular languages such as Japanese, Gujarati, Portuguese, Mandarin and Arabic.
