Local Pupil Performs at Royal Albert Hall

Dunottar pupil Chloe Barnes performed in the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room on Sunday 23 March, 2014 as a member of the Royal College of Music Junior Department (RCMJD) Wind Octet.

The seventeen-year-old’s performance was part of the Royal Albert Hall’s high profile Classical Coffee Concert series. The Wind Octet entertained a delighted audience with range of pieces by Krommer and Mozart.

The Royal College of Music Junior Department Wind Octet comprises the section leaders of the RCMJD Symphony Orchestra, many of whom, like Chloe, are also members of the National Youth Orchestra.

The musically-gifted teenager has four Grade 8 distinctions with her Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams with the cello, oboe, piano and practical musicianship.

John Mitchell, Performance Manager of the RCMJD, commented: “Congratulations for a superb concert last Sunday! My colleagues at the Royal Albert Hall were absolutely delighted with the concert.”
