Warrior Learning

At Dunottar we enable our pupils to achieve spectacular outcomes by encouraging them to exhibit the seven behaviours of 'warrior learners'; aspiration, creativity, tenacity, independence, curiosity, collaboration and inclusivity, preparing them for the fast paced and ever changing world we live in.

Cafe Scientifique 🧪

The science department hosted their 2nd annual Evening of Cafe Scientifique in front of a packed sixth form common room on Monday 9th March. Parents, students, staff and guests enjoyed the cafe vibe, with Miss Channell playing some great jazz numbers on the keyboard and Mel provided the drinks and snacks at her cafe.

The evening, hosted by sixth former Adam, began with Year 10 student Jayden presenting on the subject of science in policing. A massive highlight of his talk was his demonstrating how handcuffs work on his dad. Next, we welcomed Vicki and Helen from the Surrey Wildlife Trust who spoke about their amazing work in the conservation and preservation of nature in our county. Our headliner was Prof Simon Walker-Samuel, Professor of Biophysics and Imaging at University College London. He spoke brilliantly on the subject of digital twins, keeping the audience engaged with the work his team are doing on the treatment of tumours using physics, biology, AI and computer modelling among many other subjects.

Thank you to everyone who attended, it was a fantastic evening learning about science outside of the school curriculum.
