“One of the best concerts the school has seen!”

6th May 15

On Saturday, pupils, staff, parents and members of the public enjoyed a stunning evening of choral music at St Mark’s church in Reigate.
“One of the best concerts the school has seen!”

The concert opened with the Dunottar Chamber Choir, who delivered a moving performance of Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater. Former Dunottar pupil Imogen and current student Emily were the featured soloists.

This was followed by two songs from the newly-formed Dunottar Voices, under the direction of Charles Thompson, head of vocal studies. The group of pupils performed a delightful rendition of Brother James’s Air and a piece by Charles Wood.

The Dunottar Choral Society then gave an incredible performance of Mozart’s Requiem, conducted by David Black, and accompanied by the string ensemble and Ian le Grice on organ. Guest soloists were Rachel Wood (soprano), Claire Filer (alto), Guy Withers (tenor) and Ian Machacek (bass). The string ensemble included former Dunottar pupil and cellist Camila Morse-Glover, and Dunottar string teacher Jonathan Bayley on viola.

Mr Black, Dunottar’s Director of Music, said: “Dunottar School would like to thank all of the performers, members of St Mark’s Church and everyone who came to support this event.  It was a most memorable evening and one of the best concerts the school has seen.”
