GCSE

Girls have important choices to make about subjects that they start in Year 10 and we support them in making these choices in order to ensure that they have a breadth of education.

Pupils take a common core of English, Mathematics and Science and then choose four options from a wide list of subjects including Modern Foreign Languages, Humanities and the Arts. The GCSEs attempt to identify what pupils know, understand and can do. All courses are designed to help pupils understand the subject’s relevance to their own lives and to other areas of study. Most students choose to study courses that will allow them to gain the English Baccalaureate. Classes are deliberately kept small (average size 14) so all girls gain individual attention from their teachers.

Assessment at GCSE level is by a combination of examinations and coursework and we ensure that through their lessons and also through their tutor periods the girls are taught the necessary skills.

Throughout her years in the Senior School we aim to give each girl a stimulating and enjoyable experience.
