Year 4 Ancient Romans

13th January 2012

On Tuesday Year 4 became Roman legionnaires for the day. They took part in a variety of activities to do with Ancient Roman times and had to dress accordingly. These included Maths using Roman numerals to solve problems , writing in wax, a banquet and making mosaic pots. By far the most popular part of the day was the banquet where they even had a Roman slave to serve the food.
The final part of the day was carrying out military manoeuvres in the school grounds led by the Head of Junior School. The girls pictured are trying to make the Testudo to protect themselves  from the flying ( foam) javelins thrown by members of staff! The girls whose faces you can see in the photo are Lauren, Lucy and Holly.
This is the start of a series of activity days being held to enhance the education of the girls.
