Pastoral Care
One of Dunottar’s greatest strengths is its well established pastoral care system. Building on from the Foundation Stage, which gained an outstanding Ofsted report, the school ensures that each girl feels that they are a valued member of the supportive community. Each week, in PSHCE lessons, the girls learn the values of caring, friendship and tolerance and we expect them to act on this in school and in the community.
Form teachers take the day to day responsibility for the welfare, behaviour and success of their pupils. We operate a zero tolerance on bullying and expect all our pupils to show care and consideration for others.
We focus on the positive which means the children thrive in an environment of positive reinforcement and encouragement. The girls are allocated to a House and this means girls socialise between year groups. There are regular House assemblies and competitions. Through this they learn loyalty and work closely together to make their House successful.
Starting with Form Captains, school council representatives, House Captains, and ultimately Prefects and Head Girl give the children opportunities to learn responsibility.
