Dunottar aims to enable each girl to achieve her true academic potential, to possess a self-assurance and strong emotional intelligence, to develop life skills and to have an awareness of the wider community and show social responsibility.

Memorandum

To work within the charitable objectives of the school. To maintain in the Board of Trustees a range of experience, skills and background appropriate to the efficient running of the school.

Leadership & Management

To develop a strong Senior team who work as a team for the benefit of the whole school with effective communication with Trustees, staff, parents and girls. To develop a co-operative ethos among Heads of Department and with other managers.

Curriculum

To provide a broad and balanced curriculum suited to the needs of our pupils. To encourage the use of modern technology and methods across the curriculum. To participate in schemes of excellence related to the curriculum.

Extra-curricular activities

To provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities, both to enrich the curriculum and provide encouragement and opportunities for girls to excel and hence support the aims of the school.

Pupil welfare and pastoral care

To provide a caring and supporting environment where each girl feels valued and has her needs met.

Staff

To employ well qualified staff with experience and enthusiasm. To provide a caring and supportive environment in which each member of staff feels themselves to be a valued contributor.

Resources and Buildings

To provide through building programmes and the development and maintenance of existing buildings, well maintained accommodation and grounds in keeping with the history and listing of the original buildings and with the changing needs of the school. To up-date facilities, equipment and technology as necessary to support the aims of the school.

Marketing

To ensure that all staff have a clear view of the aims of the school and to promote those aims on every occasion. To encourage others involved with the school to do likewise. To promote, in particular, the value of single sex education for girls. To identify new marketing opportunities and potential parents and pupils. To maintain links with our feeder schools.

Finance

To provide a sound financial basis to support the objectives of the school. To employ the appropriate professional advisers on finance and finance-related issues.

Community links

To enhance our place within the local community and our relationship with our neighbours. To continue to encourage charitable giving within the school.
