Entrance Procedures

Junior School

Admission is by individual assessment which may take place throughout the year. The purpose of the assessment is to evaluate the prospective pupil’s potential and no special preparation is required. Girls may join the Junior School at any time during the academic year if there are spaces.

Senior School

11+ Admissions

Interview: Late November/early December 2011.

Entrance Examinations: Wednesday, 4th January 2012.

Girls who will be 11 years old on 1st September 2012 may sit the Entrance Examinations. The tests will be in English, Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning. In English and Mathematics the tests are based on the National Curriculum work that the girls will have been doing in their current school. No special tutoring is required beyond this. All candidates will automatically be considered for an Academic Scholarship.

Offers of 11+ places will be made by late January 2012.

Taster Day: Mid November 2011

An opportunity to spend a day as Year 7 in the Senior School for all those Year 6 girls who have registered to sit the Entrance Tests.

13+ Admissions

Interview: Late November 2011.

Entrance Examinations: Friday, 18th November 2011.

Girls who will be 13 years old on 1st September 2012 may sit the Entrance Examinations. The tests will be in English, Mathematics and Science. The tests are based on the National Curriculum work that the girls will have been doing in their current school. No special tutoring is required beyond this. All candidates will automatically be considered for an Academic Scholarship.

Offers of 13+ places will be made during December 2011.

Sixth Form Admissions

Assessment for Entrance: ideally applications for Sixth Form places for September 2012 should be submitted by Tuesday, 31st January 2012. Any student who wishes to join the Sixth Form will be interviewed by the Headmistress, have a tour of the school and meet, where possible, the Head of Sixth Form and the Heads of Departments of the subjects that the student wishes to study in the Sixth Form. We will also write for references from the student’s current school. Students are normally required to achieve a minimum of 5 GCSEs at A* to C grade with a grade B or above in the subjects they wish to study at AS Level.

Applications for a place into any year group will be considered if there are spaces.
