Young Enterprise Scheme

Young Enterprise is offered to students as one of their General Studies options in the Lower Sixth. This is a nationally run and recognized activity which provides the girls with an ideal way of developing a wide range of skills whilst having quite an adventure.

The girls form a company which sells shares to provide working capital. Then, having elected a Board of Directors and decided on a product, they carry out the tasks of a business and hopefully end the year having made a profit. There are competitions along the way which give the companies a chance to present their product and business plans using Power Point and other methods to large groups and judges. The course provides a great way of finding out what students are capable of and how to follow plans through to a conclusion. There are tasks for all as a company needs those who are good at marketing, creativity, finance, planning, human resources and a range of other activities. Young Enterprise provides students with a good grounding in the concepts of business and can also help them to focus on possible career paths for the future.
