Many pupils have exceeded expectations on baseline data calculated by the University of Durham, particularly in English, maths, modern languages and the humanities. Pupil Millie averages one and a half grades higher than predictions across her GCSEs and is up three grades in English. Millie plans to build on her successes by studying A-levels in English, art and sociology at Dunottar’s sixth form, where pupils gained excellent results last week.

Other notable achievers include Jack, who is nearly a full grade higher across his GCSEs, and Lucy, up by one and a half grades.

One of the reasons for the phenomenal progress of Year 11 is Dunottar’s unique programme of academic and pastoral support. Last September, each Year 11 pupil chose a teacher mentor, who worked in partnership to facilitate success.

Mr Mark Tottman, Headmaster of Dunottar School, said: “Congratulations to Year 11 and to the teachers who support them. At Dunottar, we’re keen to develop the whole person, and Year 11 have successfully balanced their studies with a wide range of offers, which include music, drama, Model United Nations, a Spanish trip to Madrid, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and much more. This particular year group has also contributed to the community through its support, hosting, leadership and officiating of the South Surrey Primary Schools' Sportshall Athletics for two years in a row. In fact, they did such a fantastic job that they were asked to help with the County Championships at Surrey Sports Park.

“As the students move to our sixth form, they will continue to develop Dunottar's 'warrior learner' qualities of aspiration, tenacity, courage, curiosity and independence. Well done with your results—we're all very proud of you!"
